PERDA 'BUY BACK' Goats Programme
PERDA started this “Buy Back” Programme with the “Win-Win” concept in mind – between including PERDA and farmers/participants involved in this programme. This programmme started in September 2006. Objectives of this “Buy-Back” programme are as follow:
- To increase the breeding of Boer goats
- To create business opportunities for goat breeders
“Buy Back" Programme Approach:
- Selected contract farmers who met up the rules and regulations set by PERDA will be supplied with weaned kids between 2 – 3 months
- These farmers will rear kids till they reach 9 months
- PERDA will buy back these goats after 6 months from the farmers
- Farmers gain income from the sales of the goats after deducting the cost price and the breeding expenses
- PERDA then will decide whether the goats are for breeding purposes or for meat
- The contract farmers will be supplied with new kids for the next phase until the 6th cycle
